PVC-CAW are rigid compact sheets of extruded PVC, glossy on both sides. Available in several standard colors: dark gray, light gray, white, cream, red and black.
PVC-CAW is recommended for use in applications where: high rigidity, excellent chemical resistance, fire resistance according to fire class B1 – DIN 4102 and working temperature from 0°C to +60°C.
PVC-CAW sheets are resistant to the action of many chemicals such as most dilute or high concentration acids, salts or alkaline chemicals. At the same time, these sheets are very rigid and hard compared to standard polypropylene or polyethylene sheets.
PVC-CAW is used in the manufacture of tanks, vats, railing protections or floors in the chemical industry. The design of the above applications must consider the operating temperature range of PVC sheets which is from 0°C to +60°C.
Unlike PP and PE sheets, PVC-CAW can be glued with the usual adhesives for gluing PVC. For the production of tanks, vats or any other product subject to high chemical and mechanical loads, we recommend that PVC-CAW sheets are welded with PVC-CAW welding electrodes.
PVC-CAW is not approved for food contact and is therefore not recommended in food industry applications where the PVC product comes into direct contact with food.
PVC-CAW are protected against the action of UV rays and are fire resistant according to fire class B1 – DIN 4102 (self-extinguishing after the fire source is removed). The smoke released by the burning of PVC is toxic and in case of inhaling this smoke we recommend you consult a specialist.
If you have to carry out a work (e.g. a metal coating facility) in which you know the chemical used, the concentration of the chemical, the working temperature and the tank volume required, fill-in the attached questionnaire and our consultants together with SIMONA AG Germany will send you a professional offer that meets your requirements and safety rules for the construction of that tank.
Standard sizes PVC-CAW
Semi-finished products of PVC-CAW can be delivered in the form of extruded sheets, bars and welding electrodes. Available in several standard colors: dark gray, light gray, white, cream, red and black.
PVC-CAW sheets are delivered with thicknesses between 1 mm and 50 mm, and the standard delivery sizes are 1000×2000 mm or 1500×3000 mm.
Thickness tolerance
PVC-CAW sheets have a tolerance of ±(0.1 + 0.03x sheet thickness).
A sheet 5 mm in thickness has a tolerance of ± 0.25 mm.
A sheet 10 mm in thickness has a tolerance of ± 0.40 mm.
Applications and benefits
PVC-CAW is recommended for use in all applications where high rigidity, excellent chemical resistance, fire resistance according to fire class B1 – DIN 4102 and working temperature from 0°C to +60°C are required.
Thus, PVC-CAW sheets are used to make:
tanks for metal coating facilities
outer sides for sandwich panels used in PVC joinery
thermoformed products in the advertising industry
billboards
printed, screen-printed, engraved, stamped, etc. products.
interior plating
facilities in the chemical industry
irrigation and drainage systems for farms
construction of swimming pools
Benefits of PVC-CAW sheets:
protected against UV rays
high rigidity
fire resistant according to fire class B1 – DIN 4102
good chemical resistance
low thermal expansion coefficient compared to PE or PP (0.08 mm/m/°C compared to 0.18 mm/m/°C on PE and 0.16 mm/m/°C on PP)
excellent electrical insulation properties
can be cut, welded, bent, thermoformed, glued, printed
Processing of PVC-CAW sheets
PVC-CAW sheets can be processed with woodworking machinery.
PVC-CAW allows the following operations: cutting, turning, drilling, bending, milling and welding.
