PPs sheets are flame retardant polypropylene sheets, with PP homopolymer structure and can be made by extrusion or pressing. The extruded sheets can be white or light gray, and the pressed sheets are light gray.
Fireproofing of PPs sheets is obtained by adding a small amount of special additives to the composition of the sheets, such as organic bromine components combined with antimony trioxide.
In case of fire, PPs have the ability to cease burning after the fire source is removed due to the high percentage of oxygen they need for burning (28% oxygen, compared to 21% oxygen as it exists normally in the atmosphere).
PPs sheets are recommended for use in all applications where fire resistance and high chemical resistance are required.
PPs sheets have fire class B1 and comply with German fire standards DIN 4102. This certification loses its validity if the PP sheets are mounted at a distance of less than 40 mm from other materials. PPs sheets are not recommended for use in outdoor applications.
