PP-FOAM – Polypropylene sheets

PP-FOAM sheets are rigid sheets of coextruded, foamed, greenish gray polypropylene (RAL 7032) and are glossy on both sides.

The production of rigid coextruded foamed sheets is a process successfully applied for a long time in the production of rigid coextruded PVC sheets (Coplast AS, Coplast AS-X). Our supplier SIMONA AG has used the huge experience gained in the production of foamed PVC sheets and has created a unique product currently on the market, namely PP-FOAM.

PP-FOAM sheets are composed of a foamed polypropylene core with two compact, glossy sides, coextruded from the same material.

Due to the foamed core, PP-FOAM sheets are 40% lighter than compact polypropylene sheets, thus being much more economical. These sheets are recommended for all indoor applications that do not require complicated welding or thermoforming operations.

PP-FOAM sheets also combine two important features that are considered to be incompatible: low weight and high rigidity. At the same time, PP-FOAM sheets have a much lower heat transfer coefficient than compact sheets.

PP-FOAM sheets combine excellent processing properties with high rigidity and low water absorption. Thus, PP-FOAM can successfully replace plywood and MDF in many applications where water absorption can damage the final product. Compared to wood-based sheets, PP-FOAM sheets are much more resistant, especially in applications where the final product is subject to moisture.

PP-FOAM sheets are not recommended for use in outdoor applications.

Applications of PP-FOAM sheets:

PP-FOAM sheets can be used to replace plywood, MDF or wood-based sheets in applications subject to moisture. At the same time, PP-FOAM sheets can replace standard PP-H sheets in applications with less mechanical load. Thus, these sheets can be used for making:
