PP-C – Copolymer polypropylene sheets

PP-C are polypropylene sheets with a copolymeric structure, greenish gray in color (approx. RAL 7032), glossy on both sides and are made by extrusion.
Because they also contain ethylene monomer chains, PP-C sheets can be used between -20°C and +80°C, a temperature range different than that for standard PP-H sheets, which are used between 0°C and +100°C. Thus, PP-C sheets can be welded, transported, mounted, installed or used even at low temperatures.

In case you have to make tanks, basins, drums or any product made of polypropylene sheets that will be welded, transported, mounted, installed or used at low temperatures (0 – 10°C), we recommend using PP-C instead of the commonly used PP-H sheets. At low temperatures, standard PP-H sheets lose their mechanical properties and become brittle, they break more easily. Due to the ethylene monomers they contain, PP-C sheets are more elastic and not as brittle at low temperatures as standard PP-H sheets.

PP-C polypropylene sheets are generally used to make tanks for storing water or various liquids, cylinders or drums for galvanizing or various metal coating facilities, wastewater treatment plants and septic tanks, etc.

Because polypropylene is generally very chemically resistant, it cannot be glued with any adhesive currently on the market. Therefore, in order to be able to make the various finished products, the PP-C polypropylene sheets must be welded together with polypropylene electrodes. PP-C polypropylene sheets are easily welded with PP-C polypropylene electrodes.

If you have to carry out a work (e.g. a galvanizing plant) in which you know the chemical used, the concentration of the chemical, the working temperature and the tank volume required, fill-in the attached questionnaire and our consultants together with SIMONA AG Germany specialists will send you a professional offer that meets your requirements and safety rules for the construction of the tank.

PP-C sheets are not recommended in outdoor applications.

Standard sizes

Semi-finished products made from PP-C in the form of sheets and welding electrodes can be delivered. PP-C can be produced by two distinct processes: by pressing or by extrusion. Extruded sheets are available in standard colors white, black, natural, and gray, and the pressed sheets can be gray or natural in color.

Extruded PP-C sheets can be produced with thicknesses between 3 mm and 15 mm. The sizes at which these sheets can be produced are 1220×2440 mm and 1500×3000 mm. The standard size of the sheets is 1500×3000 mm, with thicknesses between 4 and 30 mm and is valid only for gray color.

Pressed PP-C sheets can be produced with thicknesses between 10 mm and 150 mm, in sizes of 1000×2000 mm and 2010×4120 mm. These sizes can only be produced and delivered on the basis of a minimum order quantity. For more details please send us a request for quotation!

Thickness tolerance of PP-C sheets

Extruded PP-C sheets have a thickness tolerance of ±(0.08 mm + 0.03x sheet thickness).
A sheet 5 mm in thickness has a tolerance of ±0.23 mm.
A sheet 10 mm in thickness has a tolerance of ±0.38 mm.

Pressed PP-C sheets have the following thickness tolerances:

Sheets with thickness 10 – 20 mm have a tolerance of 0/+3 mm
Sheets with thickness 21 – 40 mm have a tolerance of 0/+5 mm
Sheets with thickness 41 – 60 mm have a tolerance of 0/+6 mm
Sheets with thickness 61 – 80 mm have a tolerance of 0/+8 mm
Sheets with thickness 81 – 100 mm have a tolerance of 0/+10 mm
Sheets with thickness 101 – 120 mm have a tolerance of 0/+12 mm
Sheets with thickness 121 – 150 mm have a tolerance of 0/+14 mm
