Polyacetal (POM) is a semi-crystalline thermoplastic that is characterized by a low friction coefficient, good wear resistance and very low water absorption. Polyacetal can be produced in the POM-H homopolymer version (made only of acetal monomers) or in the copolymer and POM-C version (made mostly of acetal monomers and a small part of monomers of other plastics).

Polyacetal homopolymer (POM-H) semi-finished products are more rigid and have better impact resistance at low temperatures than POM-C copolymer polyacetal semi-finished products.

POM-C semi-finished products have better resistance to hot water and have better thermal and chemical characteristics than POM-H. Parts that need to be dimensionally stable, even if they are exposed to moisture, are recommended to be made of POM-C.

In addition to high dimensional stability, POM-C polyacetal has optimal processability characteristics (short swarf). Therefore, this material is recommended to be used to make machined products.

Polyacetal (POM) is known for its very high mechanical strength, high working temperature range and anti-friction properties. It is resistant to a wide range of chemicals, including solvents. It is also approved for use in contact with food.

As a standard, POM polyacetal can be delivered in natural or black color. Black polyacetal has additives that make it resistant to the action of UV rays.

In order to be able to make different finished products, polyacetal semi-finished products undergo certain machining, such as drilling, turning, milling, cutting, threading, etc. Due to the almost zero moisture absorption, the dimensional stability of the polyacetal parts is clearly superior to the parts made of PA6 polyamide.

Standard sizes

Black and white POM polyacetal semi-finished products are delivered in the form of sheets, bars or tubes.

Polyacetal sheets are delivered with thicknesses between 2 mm and 6 mm with sizes 1000x1000mm and thicknesses 8-250 mm with sizes 610×1000/2000/3000 mm(8-100), 610×1000/2000 mm(110-200 mm), 610×1000 mm(250 mm), 1000×1000/2000 mm (10-100 mm), 1220×1000/3000 mm (12-30 mm).

POM polyacetal bars are delivered in lengths of 1 meter and with diameters between 5 mm and 500 mm.

Polyacetal tubes are delivered in lengths of 1 meter with various outer and inner diameters. The minimum diameter that can be delivered is 20×10 mm and the maximum diameter is 200×150 mm.
