PE-FOAM sheets are rigid sheets composed of a foamed polyethylene core and two compact sides coextruded from the same material. The coextruded sides are textured, scratch-resistant and protected against the action of UV rays.
The production of rigid coextruded foamed sheets is a process successfully applied for a long time in the production of rigid coextruded PVC sheets (Coplast AS, Coplast AS-X). Our supplier SIMONA AG has used the huge experience gained in the production of foamed PVC sheets and has created a unique product currently on the market – PE-FOAM.
Due to the foamed core, PE-FOAM sheets are 27% lighter than compact polyethylene sheets, thus being much more economical. These sheets are recommended in all flat exterior applications that do not require complicated welding or thermoforming operations.
PE-FOAM sheets combine two important features that were considered incompatible: low weight and high rigidity. At the same time, PE-FOAM sheets have a much lower heat transfer coefficient than compact sheets.
PE-FOAM sheets combine excellent processing properties with high rigidity and low water absorption. Thus, PE-FOAM can successfully replace wood-based sheets (plywood and MDF) in many applications where water absorption can damage the final product.
Standard Sizes
PE-FOAM sheets can only be produced in white and at thicknesses of 6 mm, 8 mm, 10 mm, 12 mm and 19 mm. The size of the sheets is 1000 × 2000 mm.
Thickness tolerance of PE-FOAM sheets
PE-FOAM sheets have a thickness tolerance of ± (0.08 mm + 0.03xsheet thickness).
A 6 mm thick sheet has tolerances of ± 0.26 mm.
A sheet with a thickness of 8 mm has tolerances of ± 0.32 mm.
A 10 mm thick sheet has tolerances of ± 0.38 mm.
