PE 1000 sheets are white colored sheets, the natural color of polyethylene, and belong to the group of high-density polyethylene sheets PE 1000. This means that the sheets have a specific density greater than 0.94 g/cm3 and a higher molecular weight of 1,000,000 g/mol.

Due to the very high molecular weight, the mechanical properties of PE 1000 sheets are improved compared to PE 100 or PE 500 sheets. Thus, PE 1000 sheets are abrasion resistant, have very good resistance to breakage and impact, withstand a wide temperature range (-260°C and +80°C) and have very good sliding properties.

Due to their high wear resistance and very good impact resistance even at very low temperatures, PE 1000 sheets are successfully used in port applications for damping and protection of quays for boats and ships.

Due to their sliding properties and very high wear resistance, the PE 1000 sheets can be used for plating grain silos, flumes and feed pipes for silos, storage hoppers for various bulk materials, metal tipping bodies for ballast trucks, etc.

The improved mechanical properties combined with the easy processability make the sheets and especially the PE 1000 bars the recommended material for the realization of a diversified range of rollers, wheels, guides, etc. used in the construction of machinery for the food industry.

PE 1000 sheets are not protected from UV rays and therefore they are recommended for use in indoor applications. For certain minimum orders, PE 1000 sheets with UV protection can be made.

Standard sizes

Semi-finished products of PE 1000 can be delivered in the form of sheets and bars. PE 1000 sheets are available in standard colors: natural, black and green.

Unlike other types of polyethylene sheets, PE 1000 sheets can only be produced by pressing.

PE 1000 sheets are delivered in thicknesses between 8mm and 120 mm, and in standard dimensions 1000 × 2000 mm, 1250 × 3000 mm.

Thickness tolerance
Pressed PE 1000 plates have the following thickness tolerances:
Sheets with a thickness of 10 – 20 mm have tolerances of 0 / + 3 mm.
Sheets with a thickness of 21 – 40 mm have tolerances of 0 / + 5 mm.
Sheets with a thickness of 41 – 60 mm have tolerances of 0 / + 6 mm.
Sheets with a thickness of 61 – 80 mm have tolerances of 0 / + 8 mm.
The sheets with a thickness of 81 – 100 mm have tolerances of 0 / + 10 mm.
The sheets with a thickness of 101 – 120 mm have tolerances of 0 / + 12 mm.

Replacement for food-grade stainless steel
Due to the very large price differences between food-grade stainless steel sheets and polyethylene sheets, for applications where the mechanical loads are not high we recommend using polyethylene sheets. Even if there are some higher mechanical loads, thicker polyethylene sheets can be chosen to withstand the mechanical loads.

By this technological solution you can make significant savings, and the cost of the finished product will be reduced a lot. In general, stainless steel sheets are 10 times more expensive than polyethylene sheets of the same thickness.

Replacement for bronze or brass
Bronze and brass are metals with a higher density and more expensive than polyethylene. These materials can be replaced with PE 1000 in many applications, but in this case the mechanical loads must be calculated very well and the constructive solution must be chosen to withstand these loads.

Replacement for Teflon
PE1000 sheets have characteristics similar or superior to Teflon in applications with temperature ranges of -260°C and +80°C. PE 1000 sheets are more resistant to wear than Teflon, are 2 times lighter than Teflon and the cost per kilogram of Teflon is 3 times higher than that of PE 1000 sheets. In almost any application where the temperature range is below +80°C, we recommend using PE 1000 instead of Teflon and thus you will achieve significant savings without affecting the characteristics of the final product.

Benefits:

can be used in a wide range of temperatures (-260°C ÷ +80°C)
approved for food contact
highly resistant to impact, even at low temperatures
highly resistant to wear
very low friction coefficient
very high breaking strength
very good chemical resistance

high corrosion resistance
good sliding properties
anti-adhesive properties
very good electrical insulators
easy to process
they do not absorb water
