Black PE 100/PE-HD sheets are black sheets that belong to the group of high-density polyethylene sheets. This means that plastics have a specific density greater than 0.94 g/cm3 and a molecular weight of approximately 200,000 – 400,000 g/mol.
Polyethylene sheets are naturally white colored sheets. Black PE 100/PE-HD sheets are protected from UV rays by adding an additional carbon black additive to the material composition. This additive improves the material’s resistance to UV rays, protecting it from their negative effects.
The very good resistance to UV rays, as well as the wide range of temperatures in which it can be used (-50 ° ÷ +80°C) make this material the right choice for the construction of outdoor tanks, such as wastewater treatment plants or septic tanks.
At the same time, the excellent chemical resistance recommends this material for the execution of a wide range of tanks, drums or galvanizing vats in the chemical industry.
Due to the high chemical resistance, black PE 100/PE-HD sheets cannot be glued with any adhesive currently on the market. Therefore, the construction of tanks or wastewater treatment plants is done by welding the sheets, an operation that is performed with special equipment for welding plastics. Black PE 100/PE-HD sheets are welded with black PE 100 welding electrodes.
If you have to carry out a work (e.g. a galvanizing plant) in which you know the chemical used, the concentration of the chemical, the working temperature and the tank volume required, fill-in the attached questionnaire and our consultants together with SIMONA AG Germany will send you a professional offer that meets your requirements and safety rules for the construction of that tank.
Standard sizes
Semi-finished products of black PE 100/PE-HD can be supplied in the form of sheets, bars and welding electrodes. Black PE 100 sheets can be produced by two distinct processes: by pressing or by extrusion. At the same time, black PE-HD sheets are produced only by extrusion. Depending on the process of obtaining the sheets, they can be produced in different thicknesses and sizes.
The extruded sheets of black PE 100 are delivered with thicknesses between 1 mm and 50 mm, and the standard delivery dimensions are: 1000 × 2000 mm, 1500 × 3000 mm and 2000 × 4000 mm.
Black PE-HD extrudedsheets are delivered with thicknesses between 1mm and 30mm, and the standard dimensions are 1000 × 2000mm and 1500 × 3000mm.
The pressed black PE 100 sheets are delivered with thicknesses between 10mm and 150mm, and the standard delivery size is 1000 × 2000mm.
Thickness tolerance of black PE 100 / PE-HD sheets
Extruded black PE 100 sheets have a thickness tolerance of ± (0.08 mm + 0.03 x sheets thickness).
A 5 mm thick sheet has tolerances of ± 0.23 mm.
A 10 mm thick sheet has tolerances of ± 0.38 mm.
Pressed black PE 100 sheets have the following thickness tolerances:
Sheets with a thickness of 10 – 20 mm have tolerances of 0 / + 3 mm
Sheets with a thickness of 21 – 40 mm have tolerances of 0 / + 5 mm
Sheets with a thickness of 41 – 60 mm have tolerances of 0 / + 6 mm
Sheets with a thickness of 61 – 80 mm have tolerances of 0 / + 8 mm
Sheets with a thickness of 81 – 100 mm have tolerances of 0 / + 10 mm
Sheets with a thickness of 101 – 120 mm have tolerances of 0 / + 12 mm
Sheets with a thickness of 121 – 150 mm have tolerances of 0 / + 14 mm
