Mirror sheets made of plastic are a viable alternative to traditional glass mirrors. The transparent plastic used as a support is covered on one side through a chemical process with a metallic layer (silver or aluminum) that reflects light in a proportion of 85 – 90%
The light reflection is successfully combined with the breaking strength of the support material, both with very good performance indices. At the same time, mirror sheets made of plastic can be processed much more easily, without the danger of breaking or cracking the sheets when cutting them.
Mirror sheets can be made of different support materials, such as PMMA, extruded PC, PET-G and in a wide range of colors. At the same time, depending on the requirements of the project, they can be produced with different textures or with unique features designed for special applications.
They are extruded sheets with excellent reflection and glare properties. They are available in a variety of colors and textures. The most common are glossy and satin mirrors. They are available in a wide range of standard colors.
Acrylic mirrors have 10 times the breaking strength of glass at the same thickness. They are durable and lightweight materials that have been specially designed to replace glass mirrors in a wide range of applications, especially where a high level of safety is required. The metallic layer on the back of the sheet that achieves the mirror effect is highly resistant to wear and protects the mirror against scratching during normal processing or use.
Acrylic mirrors are recommended for indoor applications. Due to their low weight, high resistance to impact and ease of processing, acrylic mirrors have eliminated the aesthetic and physical limitations of ordinary glass mirrors. They can be used as mirror surfaces in decorations and interior design, commercial furniture, exhibition stands, various displays, etc.
Because acrylic mirrors do not have the rigidity of glass, some imperfections or distortions of the reflected image may occur, especially when large size sheets are used. To avoid this, we suggest you choose a larger thickness of the mirror sheet, so that the mirror is as rigid as possible.
Proper installation of acrylic mirrors and the right choice of sheet thickness can reduce image distortion, but this problem is not completely eliminated. Image distortion is not a production defect, but an inherent feature of the material.
A more economical option is to glue the acrylic mirror to a rigid and flat sheet made of MDF or PAL. It is recommended that you test the adhesives you want to use on smaller parts for 72 hours to check the compatibility of the adhesive with the acrylic mirrors.
For applications where superior resistance to impact is required, we recommend using extruded PC mirror sheets, which are virtually unbreakable.

Acrylic Mirror PMMA Standard Sizes
Available colors:
We always have in our stock silver mirror sheets.
Standard thicknesses and sizes:
The standard thickness of transparent sheets is
1,5 mm, 2 mm, 3 mm, 4 mm, 5 mm, 6 mm, 8 mm, 10 mm, 12 mm and 15 mm.
The standard size of the sheets is:
– 2050×3050 mm for 1,5 mm – 6 mm thickness .
– 1010×2050 mm for 8 mm și 10 mm thickness.
– 1250×2050 mm for 15 mm thickness.
Thickness tolerance:
Plexiglass tolerances according to ISO 7823-2 are:
- thickness < 3 mm +/- 10%
- thickness >/= 3 mm +/- 5%
Sheets made on special order with different length and/or width than the standard size can help you make significant savings!
Alternative materials for mirror sheets:
Mirror plastic sheets can also be delivered on request from different plastics, such as:
- Extruded PC
- PET-G
- Extruded polystyrene
Benefits and applications
Applications of acrylic mirrors:
- Decorations and interior design
- Commercial furniture
- Exhibition stands
- Different types of displays
They are the perfect solution for your application because they:
- are twice as light as glass at the same thickness
- are 10 times more resistant to breakage than glass
- are much easier to process than ordinary glass
- can be cold bent
- can be easily drilled or cut.
Recommendations for the use of acrylic mirrors
1. Because acrylic mirrors have a relatively soft surface and are flexible, some imperfections or distortions of the reflected image may occur. They are not recommended in applications where the perfect reflection of the image is desired.
2. Acrylic mirrors are not recommended for the use in outdoor applications.
3. Some adhesives affect the material from which the back of the mirror is made, which leads to the damage of the mirror. It is recommended to test the adhesives you want to use on smaller parts for 72 hours, to check the compatibility of the adhesive with the acrylic mirrors.
4. Acrylic mirrors cannot be thermoformed but can be cold bent.
5. Acrylic sheets absorb moisture. A high degree of moisture can cause the material to deform. Deformation is a characteristic of the material and must be taken into account when designing the final product.
6. Bonding the edges with solvent-based adhesives can cause the sheets to crack.
7. Acrylic mirrors are sheets that support combustion and must be protected from flame or high temperature heat sources.
8. Acrylic mirrors should be stored in dry and cool areas. Acrylic sheets will deform if exposed to temperature variations. The material should be stored on a flat pallet and covered in plastic wrap to minimize water absorption.
9. The protective film on the sheets must not be removed until the final processing operation.
10. It is not recommended to be used in the construction of shower cabins or other environments in which humidity can cause contraction or expansion of the sheets.
Processing of acrylic mirrors:
Mirror acrylic sheets can be processed with woodworking machinery.
These materials allow the following operations: cutting, welding, gluing, finishing (sealing the cut edges), drilling, bending, printing, varnishing, polishing with textile cloth or assembling.
In the Processing Manual below you will find all the information necessary for processing.
